Early Start to Cyber Month Blog

We all know the online world can be risky. It’s not just tech people who should be careful online; everyone should! That’s why next month is dedicated to teaching everyone about staying safe online. This year, we’re talking about it early, and we’ll also show how Microsoft can help.

What’s Cyber Month All About?

Every October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month. It’s a time when experts teach people how to stay safe online. It started in the U.S., but now people all over the world join in. Two big groups lead it, and they work with others to get the word out.

The 4 Big Tips to Stay Safe

  1. Multifactor Authentication (MFA): This is like having two locks on a door. Even if bad guys have the key (your password), they can’t get in easily. Microsoft says this method stops nearly all break-in tries! Using single sign on (SSO) is also a great way to stay safe!

  2. Strong Passwords: Always have different, tough-to-guess passwords. Don’t use easy stuff like birthdays. Companies can set rules for making strong passwords – if you haven’t enforced this policy, your company is at risk.

  3. Update Regularly: Always get the latest versions of your apps and systems. This is like getting a better lock for your door. End Point Manager can help do this easily.

  4. Watch Out for Tricky Messages: Learn to spot fake emails or texts. They might want to steal your info. If you see a weird message, report it to Microsoft or your IT admin.
